Termopaint

Cooling the Future, Naturally.

Termopaint is a sustainable, water-resistant, VOC-free thermal insulating paint designed for hot climates. It delivers passive cooling, regulates indoor temperatures, and helps reduce energy costs and emissions.

The Challenge We Face

Extreme heat is already harming people, worsening chronic diseases and contributing to 48,000 deaths of older adults each year in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Current strategies for rising temperatures, such as conventional insulating paints, still rely on VOCs that form ground-level ozone and damage ecosystems.

As temperatures rise, reliance on HVAC systems increases, creating a cycle where more cooling drives more emissions. In 2023, HVAC systems produced 5.5 billion tonnes of CO2, while global spending reached $263.56 billion in 2024, increasing costs and inequality.

At the same time, agricultural waste such as sugarcane bagasse ash is often discarded instead of being reused as a valuable resource.

The Termopaint Innovation

Our key innovation is transforming sugarcane bagasse ash waste into high-value silica aerogel microparticles, repurposing pollution into a functional nanomaterial.

It works by combining high solar reflectivity materials with silica aerogel to block heat transfer, reducing the need for HVAC systems.

Unlike conventional paints, Termopaint is made entirely from inorganic materials, making it safer for human health and the environment. It is also easy to apply on the exterior surfaces of existing buildings, enabling practical implementation without major structural changes.

Impact on Customers, Industry, and the World

Termopaint is a triple-impact solution addressing climate, health, and economic challenges. It passively cools indoor spaces, improves comfort and sleep, and reduces heat-related health risks. It cuts energy use, costs, and CO2 emissions by reducing dependence on HVAC systems, while upcycling agricultural waste into high-value materials and supporting a circular economy. At scale, 1,000 homes could benefit more than 4,000 people.
